Inter Milan was held to a 1-1 draw by Monterrey in their Club World Cup opener, although they made a victorious comeback at the death of the second round clash against Urawa to pick up their first three points. Inter Milan won the game 2-1 after scoring two late goals, with the result putting them in a good place to secure their position in the knockout stage.

Marcelo Gallardo’s side are in control of their knockout destiny, as they enter the final round sitting at the top of the group ahead of the second-place Inter Milan with a marginal superior goal difference. Marcelo Gallardo’s men managed to ease past Urawa in their opening match after goals from Facundo Colidio, Sebastian Driussi, and Maximiliano Meza. They then dominated possession in their second-round game against Monterrey, but were unable to break the deadlock, with the match ending in a draw. However, a place in the knockout stage can still be secured by the Argentine powerhouse with either a win or a draw on the final day against Inter Milan. All thanks to a superior goal difference over the Italian giants.
